Tim Baldwin preaching on 2 Corinthians 7:8-16
Have you ever asked God for sorrow?
Paul acknowledges that there would have been sorrow for the Corinth church from his previous letter – a sorrow that God intended as a positive thing. In contrast Paul describes a worldly sorrow which leads to spiritual death.
Godly sorrow - focused on God
Leads to repentance and a desire to come to God for forgiveness, helping us to marvel at the cross.
2 Cor 7:11 describes many action words convincing Paul that the Corinth church had experienced Godly sorrow.
Worldly sorrow – focused on self
Leads to one of 3 reactions. Ignore, relieve, despair.
How to get Godly sorrow?
Pray for Godly sorrow that leads to repentance and a greater understanding of grace.

Tim Baldwin preaching on Song of Songs 25th Sep, 2011
Eph 5 tells us of the relationship between a man and a woman and compares it with the relationship between the Christ and the church. Song of Songs 5 talks about an intimate relationship which suffers a set back before being restored.
Marriage is more than ‘feeling in love’, it is to be modeled on Christ’s love for a church and built on covenant and commitment. Marriage is meant to show the world of Gods love of the church.
1. Lift our view of marriage – invest is marriage to put God and his goodness on display
2. Takes the pressure off – if you are a Christian, gathered into church (bride) for an unbreakable marriage with Christ. (see Rev 21). The intimacy of the best marriage is just a glimpse of the eternal marriage that we have in Christ.
Thank God for the gift of marriage

Tim Baldwin preaching on Titus 2:11-15 (19/6/2011)
Nothing is more important than to develop a deeper understanding of the grace of God.
- it saves us
- it teaches
- to glorify God
1. Grace Saved us
Grace of God refers to Jesus who gave himself for us. v14 Titus 3:4 When grace appeared, we were saved. It is something that was done publicly and is accessible to all. Because this grace is offered freely and without any performance based requirement, our response is often ‘does it really matter what I do?’ see Romans 6.
2. How – Grace Teaches us v12
Redeemed means to buy back, and grace saves us from the slavery of own selfish desires. The knowledge of this redemption sustains out ability to reject sin and live godly lives. Grace teaches us that going back to sin is like returning to the prison of sin after being set free.
3. Why? To gather people for his glory
Because God is gathering his special people, and our salvation is less about ‘me’ and more about God. Belonging to God means to be holy to him, free from the enslavery of sin. Eph 3:10 God is all about making his awesome glory to the heavenly realms. And he does this by holding up his redeemed people!
Pray that you will understand the holy imprint that God has used to purify us, and to treasure this grace so that it shapes our desire to live godly lives.

Tim Baldwin preaching on how motherhood shows us how God is & his goodness. 08/05/11
Motherhood was Gods idea, and therefore reveals something about His character.
How are Mums like God?
1. Blessing not a burden
Mum’s pour themselves out for others, continuously giving not taking.
God has given us everything, life, health, grace, even dying for us to restore us into right relationship with Him.
In return he asks for the whole of us (not because he needs it), but because it’s right. Matt 11:28-30
2. Hard working & humble
Mum’s work hard and without glory.
Our God is always at work (John 5:6) Not only did God create the world, but he humbly took on human form and died for us (Phil 2:5-8)
3. Gentle & loving
Mum’s have an ability to comfort, care, and love in a unique and powerful way.
No matter what we do, a mothers love is so deep that is unfailing.
This love is a glimpse of God’s unconditional love.
Eph 3:17-18 Pauls prayer for the church is that we will grasp how wide high and deep Gods live is.
And yet Gods love IS conditional that we fear & honour Him, living in gratitude for what He has done for us.
You can take your Mum for granted and get away with it. However we will all stand before God and be accountable for our lives.
On mother’s day as we honour our Mum’s, pray that you might honour God living in gratitude for what he has done.
